Ziziphus mauritiana Leaves Normalize Hormonal Profile and Total Cholesterol in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Rats

In the present study, beneficial effect of leaves Ziziphus mauritiana on testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, LH hormones, blood glucose, and total cholesterol levels in experimentally induced polycystic ovaries female Sprague Dawley rats were evaluated. Letrozole was used to induce PCOS rats, clomiphene citrate as a standard control. This study carried out vivo 30 where group I received normal saline II V treated with letrozole (1 mg/kg/day), which dissolved orally for 21 days PCOS. After induction, test groups III IV ZMME at dose 100 mg/kg 200 14 days, respectively, (2 mg/kg) days. At end experimental period, animals sacrificed by cervical dislocation, samples collected cardiac puncture. collection, removed weighed. The results showed that normalized all hormones levels. HPTLC profile presence gallic acid, rutin, quercetin, ursolic acid. Many studies have reported quercetin is effective against its complications; it suppresses insulin resistance reduces testosterone an improvement inflammatory microenvironment ovarian tissue rat model. research concluded potential efficacy treatment normalizing abnormal levels, could be due leaves.
